What's this mysterious line in the Animator Window?

    This is probably a really dumb question, but what's the thick blue line in the animator window (image attached)?

    It goes off at a 45 degree angle to nowhere and if I drag the 'Walk' state box, it mysteriously vanishes.

    It the progress bar for a transition.

    Do you have some negative speed setup on one of your animator state? the progress bar progress on the wrong direction.

    I thought the progress bar appeared in the animation state boxes themselves, not seen it 'outside the box'.
    Yes, the animation speed of one state does change via script and go negative in places - is that a bad idea?

    I'm experiencing a lot of problems with this one - Bools / Triggers are triggering the animation state change, but a lot of the time the next animation doesn't play - it's just frozen... even though the speed is set to 1 on the next animation state.

    I bet this will all stop as soon as I remove the negative animation speed.
