So all of a sudden I have a bunch of awesome tools to try out and I want to use them to try all sorts of neat things.

I'm really looking forward to trying out:
    -Draw to texture
    -Parallel loading
    -LOD

And with them I'm going to try to make:
-A 3d Skybox with draw to texture
-A Portal style portal with draw to texture
-A streaming out door map with parallel loading and LOD (with some help from World Machine)

What kinds of thing are you guys looking forward to trying out?

Not just the new stuff for us free users but remaking some existing things - Just got done playing with the new first person controller with head bob and footsteps synced to the head movement. Very nice! The lighting is wonderful (bye-bye Skyshop), the LOD is very cool being able to use the built in instead of seeking out an asset to do it, 64-bit, the asset store window is much faster even if it is a little weird but can get used to it. Heard some complaints about the new wheels, but I'm kind of excited to revist that and other improved physics. Can't wait to see what else I will discover. And of course those things you mentioned.

This is such a tremendous gift to remove the game making restrictions on the free version on top of the whole new version of Unity. This should also make it easier on asset makers to not have to support free and a pro version of their assets.

Been playing with the profiler. Got a performance spike I wish to eliminate.

To be honest I'm suffering a bit from feature shock. There are so many new things to play with I wasn't expecting to get near. It would be nice to have been given a month or two of warning. Then I could read the docs in anticipation.

What issue did you have with performance spike?
I've noticed even with Vsync off, I still get gfx.WaitForPresent or whatever, which should only be a Vsync thing.
And it appears to take a lot of stuff down, but if Vsync is on, it's normal to say it's at like 75% and crap.
    (That's just how it is).

One of my projects is creating new terrains, then applying a procedural height map and a procedural splat map. Hangs the whole game for about two seconds every time it runs. Splitting generating the data generation up does not seem to do much to improve things. I'm figuring out the profiler to see how I can eliminate it.

Within a month (or two at most) I will download U5PE. I'll be looking forward to working on a small 3D game the first in many years! So to me just getting into 3D in Unity period. Right now I am working exclusively on 2D games using tile maps and sprites focusing on creating the interactive framework I need to build the kind of games I like. I just see no sense in jumping in to the fancy stuff making gee whiz FX with no foundation/infrastructure for above average interaction and other systems to back it up.

I might try actually using the scene editor too but not sure. I find it much more intuitive to work with data structures, code and raw data than I do to design in what reminds me very much of a 3D modeling program window. But anyway I am just looking forward to it all. I know I will have a lot of work to do coming up with a way to animate 3D models without using Mechanim or legacy animaton and just do it all in code. So I guess that is what I am most looking forward to. Creating my 3D animation system that is as easy to use as my 2D anim system!
