I have got to ask this, I may be weird, but what really puts me in the zone to want to build build build my games is listening to video game music, I don't know why, but I LOVE songs from video games, it helps put me in the mood.

I wanted to find out if y'all use anything that you use that puts you in the *zone* as well.

Come on, I can't be the only weird one out there LOL.

Thinking about my end-goal, trying to come up with a better vision of it, and trying to generate additional ideas gets me in the zone. Also, it helps if it's between 8PM-4AM.

I listen to Mix Cloud a huge variety of music sets/shows in most genres. Personally I like listening to Techno and Trance when I'm working, it really puts me in the groove.

IDK why but I'm addicted to Classical music. Mozart, Beethoven etc. It soothes my nerves and helps me think straight. I also love game music such as the Halo 2 soundtrack, Skyrim Dragonborn soundtrack and loads more.

Some good energizing music such as Disturbed often does the trick. So does doing a quick training session maybe just knocking out 50 burpees or straight sqauts and push ups. Gets the blood pumping feeds the brain. Finally, playing games does it often too. Often I see a game implementing some mechanic maybe a bit poorly and that gets the brain started.

Nights, It is easiest for me to enter the "flow" mind-state with my work when I am surrounded by silence. I've noticed over the years that the absolutely best time to work is when the stars fill our black sky and the snow is falling outside of the window.

Autozone does... yes I know, bad pun but had to be done.

On a serious note, I have to say music is what gets me going.

These forums get me going too.

There's this commercial from Autozone that has this super cheesy motto: "Get in the zone with Autozone."

About four beers and a slightly noisy pub.

EDIT: Also, a touch of sleep depravation helps too.

    The following:

    - Some sort of electronic music or cool soundtracks to video games or sci-fi/fantasy movies.
    - Nighttime + dark room.
    - Wife and kid asleep.

Bro that is one secret that I don't tell anyone haha. Same here, I LOVE classical. My favorite is Antonio Vivaldi's Summer piece. Amazing.

    "Makes them laugh everytime"

It seems as if you get pulled over a lot...

I like to indulge in a good sci-fi / fantasy show like game of thrones to get ideas. But now I can't take the show seriously after watching south park..

    Wiener Wiener..

LOL Naw I don't, I've been pulled over twice.

The day I got married (yeah check that) lol.
And one day on July 4th.
Actually another time as well, I was driving an old Dodge truck through town, and the headlights were really bad, so i didnt even realize I didn't have them on, because 99% of the time I couldn't even see them hit the road lol.

hahaha I love South Park lol.
