In actual use "foobar" can mean everything from "nothing", through "whatever" to "anything at all" depending on context. Ie. it is a metasyntactic variable

"Foobarred" should then refer to anything that has had done "whatever" or "anything at all" to it. ... or that it has been used as a metasyntactic variable:
"Barney got fobarred by being used as a generic example in class. How embarrasing!"

In ID's Quake 4 it means F*** or F***ed... but without the explicit language that would have increased their already high age recommendation.

unless you're on primtime tv. then it's "fouled up beyond all recognition" with "fouled" being dubbed in some other actors voice... :D
