Is there a specific name for the ! ? type markers you see above an NPCs head in rpg and mmo games?
I've tried using the words icon and indicator in Unity Answers but that just brings up topics I'm not looking for. Is there a generic term commonly used to describe these markers?

    Thanks

Quest Machine calls them quest indicators to distinguish them from other quest-related markers like those shown on a minimap for other purposes such as kill targets. There's no single standard term, but I think markers and indicators are both commonly used.

Indicator is the better use of language but marker is a more common term with mmo players. I don't think it matters either way, both are properly understood :)
