As a library developer, being able to anticipate big changes and either prepare for them or schedule time to deal with them is very helpful. The massive changes that arrived with 1.0 experimental were extremely chaotic.

Right now, things are pretty stable, and very slow going. We've hardly had fixes addressing minor usability annoyances let alone any news of big new features or changes coming to the core Entities package or any of the currently released packages. There's a lot of "we're investigating this" but not a lot of commitment.

What's actually next for the existing packages? What are the teams actually working on? What of that is going to be breaking changes relative to 1.0, and when are those changes expected to arrive at the earliest?

We don't have any breaking changes planned until post 2023LTS.

For the near future, we anticipate patch releases and at least one minor version release to expose new functionality. But it should be compatible with any existing code.
