What is the criteria for having an asset "featured"?

I'm speaking of the green border with the word featured, that appears around some assets. I looked around a bit but couldn't find a clear explanation beyond 'nice assets'.

I ask, because recently a new asset similar to one of mine was featured, but to my knowledge mine was never. Are creators notified at all when their assets are featured? Is there some sort of submission process?

 

It's curated, so it's up to the judgment of the curators (i.e., Asset Store staff). There's no submission process. Publishers aren't notified.

If anyone from the asset staff is reading this, it would be awesome if we could possibly receive a notification of any features through the asset store. It'd be nice to publish on our social medias a featured product in conjunction when it's actually featured
