Not sure where you got this idea. You aren't stealing the images. You are using them to help advertise the advertise the package they are of. It would be kind of goofy for someone to sue you for helping them get sales. Customers are more likely to click a link with a picture than one without. I've never participated in any affiliate program in the ten years I've worked with them off and on where I couldn't use images to help sell products.

But sorry if I misspoke about your posts. I still say they are a good example though, even without pictures.

 

Most people would look past it if it were free advertisement but it is using someone else's copyrighted images and possibly their trademarks contained within to make money through the affiliate id. So VIC20 is correct to be concerned about using images without consent.

 

OT: Just a quick note. Don't want to throw this too far off-topic. But you CAN post pictures in this thread of other assets. It is called "Fair Use". You can research it if interested.

I am not a moderator, nor will I flag your post, but, please keep on topic. The stuff you posted is all on a REGULAR sale. There is nothing SECRET about it. Additionally, all you did was inject your affiliate id. You provided no added value to the post. You didn't even add a single note from your "evaluation".

This post would be just fine if these were secret sales and they have a sentence for each item describing why they are worth buying.

I honestly think the purpose of affiliate links should be to use them on social media, blogs, reviews, or your email list, get people who do not regular check the forums. I will make a point of using those if I see them and something I want. But posting here seems like cheating. lol

Secret, non-official sales are different and I would hope that this thread is used for those instead of the regular "everyone who visits the forums already knows about" sales.

 

There is no Fair Use in German law. I’m German, I post from Germany and other Germans can see the postings so German Law is involved.

What could happen in theory when I post an image here: If ANYONE from Germany who is an affiliate too sees that I have done this without having any right to use the pictures then he could mandate his lawyer to send me an Abmahnung (a formal request by one person to another person to stop a certain behaviour forthwith).
By ignoring the law I've got an unfair advantage over all other affiliates so anyone has the right to send me such a request.
The problem is that I would have to pay the cost of the lawyer to write the letter which usually starts at something like 600 EUR. Actually these kind of letters are a huge business model for lawyers and owners of online-shops in Germany. They often have an (illegal) arrangement like 30:70 and they scan the entire internet for victims who did the slightest thing wrong.

But to gain an advantage from this posting: If you like my links in this thread then you could visit my assets, maybe you like them too?

 

I see your point so I will remove my post. Please note that I spent a few days sifting through thousands of sales and thought others would really benefit from my findings. I thought it might be fitting here only because so much was on sale (No secrets this week). I might make a dedicate thread, but not sure if that is appropriate?

 

I would suggest your own post/thread and add a sentence or two to each link as to what you found interesting for that asset. Your comments/notes are what would make it valuable. As an unannotated list, it doesn't serve much purpose.

 

I would also suggest talking to mods. I think I saw somewhere them posting that they were only allowing lists in this thread. However, with that being said, lists like the ones which were being posted for the actual Unity sale are off-topic for this thread.

With Polygonmaker switching the price from $9 to $99 so quickly, I imagine it could have been a typo that they scrambled to fix right away.

 

I doubt they will give that feature to everyone.

 

Really, I hope they don't. I can imagine it is some kind of switch they set per-asset when reviewing them. Like the asset we have that seems to be auto-update is a model, so it seems to qualify as something that would be better suited for that model of approval. So maybe they click some checkbox when reviewing to set it to some threshold of code changes?
