Lately there have been a number of items that are being reported as being on sale, but there is no indication in the store description that they are on sale, or when the sale ends.

However we have noticed that recently some developers are taking advantage of this by raising the price one day and lowering it the next. Until then, you can go to AssetStoreDeals.com and click on the "Price History" link for any asset that has been reduced in price to see if it is a real deal worth buying.

For example, the asset you mentioned, Dwarves Warriors, was raised to $300 one day and then dropped to the normal price of $98 the next, as can be seen in the Price History.

But Human Warrior has been at $10 for over a year, and has now been reduced to $5, as shown in the Price History. So this is a true sale.

 

Many developers reduce the price of their assets for a variety of reasons, either temporarily or permanently, without mentioning it in the store description. The "Price History" links at AssetStoreDeals.com can help in deciding whether an asset is really "on sale" (depending on one's definition of "sale") and worth buying.

 

Please add a note rather than just eliminate it from the list. I would not buy any assets from that kind of developer (atleast if there is alternative).

@Asset_Store_Deals Have you thought about making an extension like CamelCamelCamel that can show the price history? For the posting, I imagine just doing an average of the last X prices it has had (up to Y days/weeks) could eliminate a lot of those false positives.

 

Your prices are very stable, your company has been around a long time now, and you have a large catalog of items. Sometimes there is just a pricing error that gets corrected.

 

While I don't keep a price history I'm pretty good at shopping in the store, and I often identify price reductions before they are listed by your service. However, it is confusing when you list a price reduction as a sale, because then it makes me wonder if there is an end time for the pricing - unannounced or hidden somewhere - when there isn't really ... it is just the new price.

It sounds like you don't have any more information about the pricing than I do, which is the main thing I was trying to figure out.

 

If Unity Store would actually make a 'sale' mechanic that allowed sellers to actually do their 'sale' a limited number of times a year, it would really help with this.

How can you change prices without submitting it for review?

 

Perhaps he ran out of vouchers... or perhaps he had sold some licenses on another platform and wanted to bring the customers onto the asset store to avoid releasing on multiple sites. Or perhaps he simply made a mistake.

Just make a draft of a new release, you can update the text and price as long as you don't change version number or code it goes right through.
