What happened to the GONet networked gameplay asset?

Just when I was about to use the apparently excellent GONet asset for a MMO game, it seems to have disappeared:

• it's gone from the asset store (archived version)
  
• as is the developer page
• and the homepage is gone.

Unless it has been a scam from the beginning, I can hardly believe that such a seemingly powerful codebase just turns into dust.

Has anyone used this asset? Is someone in touch with the developers? Any idea what happened?
