I started a new project in unity 2019.3 and can't find ProGrids in package manager and not much info about it online

Thank you for posting! This was yet another real aggravation for a new user to stumble into.

Kind of ridiculous... they say it's "native in 2019.3" and give absolutely zero clue in their Unity Manual entry for ProGrids installation. Why is this new "native" grid tool not... well... NATIVE

Having a functional grid is pretty foundational I would think.

    For reals...
For reals! I was literally looking everywhere within the software trying to find it. The tutorial I was following, was getting it from the assets store, but he even said in the future it'll probably be moved to the package manager. Only for it to be "HIDDEN" LMAO!! Thanks the the heads up @EthanFischer ! Without this/your discovery, we would all be lost!!

Hey, I have preview packages enabled and it still doesn't show up in 2021.1.3f1; only ProBuilder and Polybrush are available from the original ProCore toolset. I assume it has been removed?

I'd take a look at our documentation to find out how to do the things you're asking :)

Generally I like how everything is turning in to packages and to make easier to keep control of versions, at the same time Its kind of inconvenient not to offer a list of "unity made" packages available. It looks that now we have to memorize all the package manager names we normally use.

Did the team disband or something? How come it never left the experimental phase? "Not supported by Unity" is a bit daunting

  24. What do you mean exactly when you say it's not working with Probuilder? If you encounter a bug, please submit bug report, it's important. :)

You responded too quickly LOL.. I found out that the default snap works fine. Progrid was actually causing issues with the editor. I removed it and probuilder works fine with the current snap tools :D

Pre-release packages are enabled in 2022.1 Alpha, but ProGrids doesn't show in the packages list...

I had to use com.unity.progrids to get it. Looks better than the default grid hey? :p

Looks like they have finally killed progrids, adding the link gives an error Package com.unity.progrids cannot be found.

Seems I will have try and tame the inbuilt crappy one, it seems to have its own ideas about where the grid is and decides to change the grid size at will.

If anyone else see this, the package does still work if you add it by name to 2022.1

I was able to install on 2021.3.7f1 using "com.unity.progrids" no quotes. I did have preview packages enabled.

I ran into an issue before where if you copy the com.unity.progrids or other named package it often includes a space at the end. Perhaps that's your issue?

Did you do the step this person replied to, turning on experimental pre-release packages?

Any word on the current status of ProGrids? I tried installing via the package manager using the "com.unity.progrids" name, but when I attempted to use ProGrids in my project, it crashed Unity. Using version 2021.3.19f1. Is there built-in functionality that can achieve the same results as ProGrids?

Progrids functionality has been mostly merged into the editor, although to what extent depends on the version of Unity that you're using. E.x., here is what the grid and snapping toolbar looks like as of 2023.2
    . Screenshot_20230523_100132.png Screenshot_20230523_100137.png
Regarding the crash, I wasn't able to reproduce this on Ubuntu 22.04 using Unity 2021.3.22f1. Were you presented with any stack trace or editor log that I could look at?

I think ProGrids is available in the package manager nowadays. I think I saw it the other day.
    No, it isn't. :(

This worked for me too. :)

Note: I had a problem using the "Add by name" field in 2022.3.11f1 on Linux, the text field disappearing right away. I had to minimize the editor to keep only the package manager window up front. Then the field was usable.

Does ProGrids have any issues with Unity 2022.3 ? I am a bit concerned that it was last updated in 2020.
