What frame rate do you get with a blank unity project with just a camera?

My laptop is Core 2 Duo, 4 GB Ram, 512 MB ATI Radeon 4000x Win 8. I get 60-70 fps(in the stats window) for a blank project(in editor when I press play) (trying to build for pc, in case that matters). (using unity 4.3.) Is this on the lower side?

Is it that we can get higher frame rates after the build(binary) compared to the editor mode (for the same pc of course)??

First of all, this will have wildly different answers for Web player, binary, and in-editor, so specify which one.

It also varies depending on how you measure it. If you're looking at the "stats" window, I believe that number measures ONLY the time it takes to render a frame, with no consideration given to any CPU time spent on it.

Also, the editor does strange things to the framerate sometimes, like "capping" it to the nearest 50 fps when it's high enough. In iOS mode, it defaults to capping the framerate at 30 fps (editor and player alike) as that will make lightweight games not burn through the battery.

So... it's not quite as simple a question as it appears when you start talking about framerates above 50 or 60 fps. All other things being equal, yes, 70 fps is certainly low for that - mine usually gets more like 200 fps on something completely blank (similar specs to yours, except being a Macbook Air). But only if you measure it certain ways.

In the editor, it says "Graphics: 1656fps", but an actual build maxes out at 1000fps, which is apparently capped by OS X. Turn off vsync if you want to get more accurate framecounts. Otherwise it's limited by your monitor.
