    Hi Everyone,

I am working on building a package to deploy Unity 5.3.x to a lab of computers. Manually using the Download Assistant (DA) on 38 computers is not a option. Well it can be a option, just a really painful one.;)

Here is what I have done so far. I used the DA to download all the installers I needed. I figure I have to install about 15 different packages to get it all done, including VS2015 Community Edition and VS Tools for Unity. My major issue is with VS2015. When the DA runs the VS2015 installer it has /ChainingPackage Unity3d_Unity as part of the command line.

What does /ChainingPackage Unity3d_Unity do? What extra packages are installed? Do I need those extra packages tosuccessfully deploy Unity ?

    Thank you
    Paul

    Hey there.

Technically, you don't have to install Visual Studio.

The /ChainingPackage Unity3d_Unity tells the VS installer that it has been called from Unity's installer.
As far as I know this flag is only used for analytics, and doesn't affect which packages get installed.

Other than that, it's a black box, and we don't have control over what Microsoft's installer will install on your machine.
In a way, it's another "Download Assistant" of its own.

Let me know if you need any additional information.

    Best regards.
