Taking about the player, not the Editor. Used to be Ubuntu only, is this still the case? If so, is there a link to an official statement somewhere?

We do our best to make it work everywhere, but "official" support is Ubuntu 12.04+ and SteamOS.

Is there some place in the Unity docs where things like Nvidia and AMD driver versions and Linux distro versions that are known to work with the player are reliably posted? For example, if I am running Unity version XYZ, can I tell my clients that running my app on Linux requires ________ GPU drivers and ______ distro version?

The official requirements page has an accurate, although pretty terse description.
Distribution: Ubuntu 12.04+ or current SteamOS
GPU/driver: OpenGL 3.2 core profile or later (opengl)
libvulkan 0.21 or later, with correspondingly supported gpu/drvier (vulkan)
