What Belongs In This Forum?

    The community asked for a design forum, and now we have one! For it to thrive, we'll need to work together to keep it interesting, focused, and unique. So before you press 'Create Thread', ask yourself if the focus of your new thread is DESIGN!

    As explained over here, this forum is for discussing "the theory, practice, and business of designing better games", which might include:
    • Theory - flow, choice, simplicity, color schemes, interface design, ...
    • Practice - juice, mechanics, balance, difficulty, keyboard vs mouse vs touch, ...
    • Business - virality, monetization, and minimally viable products
    Here's a few examples:
    • Marketing!
      • BAD - "How much did your game make? Let's talk about marketing!"
      • GOOD - "Which design elements are easier to market?"
    • Input Handling!
      • BAD - "How come the text control is eating events for my button?"
      • GOOD - "Which is a better design - arrow keys or mouse clicks?"
    • User Interface
      • BAD - "What's a good vector art program?"
      • GOOD - "Is 'Juice' a band-aid for bad design?"
    • Networking
      • BAD - "What's a better design for my client/server networking layer?"
      • GOOD - "How to keep skills balanced in multiplayer MOBAs?"
    • Coding
      • BAD - "Is there code I can add to CharacterMotor.js to add sprinting?"
      • GOOD - NO. 'Nuff said.
