Very nice link. I'll have to run through as soon as I get the chance. I had middling success dealing with RAW and height maps with the terrain engine way back in 1.x, but since then I have not done any exteriors that required more than pulling a few points in blender...

I noticed that in the over view image there seemed to be some mirroring and duplication of the terrain along what I assume is tile edges. Is this to reduce/prevent seams?

    A recent screenie:

The terrain is merely a few pulled points in Blender starting with a noisy sub-divide a simple plane... But then again I want two things: VLP (Very Low Poly) and I don't want it to be anything other than a hint as terrain is irrelevant in this game.

    @ little angel
I only quickly stitched the seams, this will probably be a test map.
I used stitchscape also, would take too long without.

The Terrain Tutorial linked by NathanAU seems to be a Windows only tutorial. I didn't look very close at it, especially when I noticed it requires .exe downloads... but that being said, I did a quick search on opening DEM (Digital Elevation Maps) on the mac, and there seem to be several free resources.

If I get to sorting it out, I'll post a link... However, if any other mac users get 'round to solving this one, could you link us to your solution?

I would like to see this game progress, looks like it might be a good game.

Found a 'glitch' though while playing around with it for about 2 minutes :p

Alot of the things here change, For example depending on how you do some levels wont be blurred because they will be unlocked, Some levels will have 2 or 1 stars. maybe none. depending on what you have done.. And the balloons arent there unless you catch them, And there is a reason for that.

    Still a wip

NOTE: it is a very tall image because its on IOS and you will scroll up and down it for level selecting.

I'd reccomend scrolling out on your web browser for a better view :)

    Thanks C+C

    Hugs
    -Charlie

EDIT: Re-looking at this I need a new balloon, I think I may of made it 'OP' compared to the rest of the art style.

most of the code I am running into is used so the 'player' doesn't break anything :p

Haha thanks. The AI is going to get a complete re-haul, so that shouldn't happen once that portion gets implemented. :p

But some other things have been updated. ;) check my sig for details.

sexy, I've had trouble with displacement maps from zbrush and xnormal, they just seem to totally erase my normal maps and look very wrong when moving the camera, any hints?

Is that a special script taking care of the mini map in the upper right corner or just a top down camera view projected on a GUI plane?

Needed a break from terrain making, so i though i'd do some physics testing.
Got it up to 3500 draw calls before it started lagging.

it can happen.. I don't say that this was on the first try :) I'm doing normal first, then height, diff, AO and last one specular.. later I combine sometime specular with bump [multiply + normalize] correcting errors in all maps by hand.
I think that on paralax success, geometry have big impact. I must re-model, re-triangulate my low poly objects cupple of times..

Urgh, stupid interwebs ate my post.

I'm working on a basic item inventory/equipment system which will work somewhat like WoW, but with armor dyes possible. I currently have the material layer condensing and packing figured out, but now I have to learn to combine meshes.

Basically want to have the character system fully functional so that if I need to test something new, I'll have somebody to test it with.

Here's a video of the control system I'm working on alongside it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GH2fR4UFo0

Why not combine a tractor, those chairs, a destruction script, and throw in a few huge explosions for good measure? This could be the next 'angry birds'.

    @ZachGriffin

That's really nice - some of the assets are nothing special (not picking here), but the way you've put the whole thing together and lit it makes it really photo-like.

It reminds me of how simple some of the Crysis assets were, yet the overall application just made the whole picture look stunning. Good job!

I am currently working on a realtime slicing Component:

    http://www.dras.biz/Slicer/WebPlayer.html

Got some issues with the colliders, but I think that I will solve this really fast, either by generating convex collsion meshs or by implementing a BVH. The later could be interesting for other people so that I will release this separate for everyone once it works.

Marrk: The trick with the slicer is to not only slice the object, but slice the slice in the air before it hits the ground!
