Okay, this is the part I do not understand still as I am still kinda new to Unity.

Do you need Pro to get a glass like effect, or a chrome/mirror like effect?
If not, how do I make it do that in Unity free!?
    Looking good though :)

Looks good to me. But is the brick wall (far left) 2D?

Might want to flip some normals on that wall :)

    Wade:

AFAIK you don't need pro for either glass or chrome.

Glass is usually just a transparent shader with a reasonable texture that when the alpha is brought down, it feels like glass.

Chrome is a reflection map. NathanAU and Taigo use them (afaict) on their cars.

Worst case scenario for chrome would be to bake a reflection texture into your model like on the bearing I did above.

That brick wall is 3D. Anyway, it's not done yet. Maybe I'll use some normals. Next thing I want to complete is add new houses.

At that point of starting a new project, I call it the sperm phase because there is a 1 in billion chance my idea will get anywhere from this point :p

The game opens in Los Angleos, during a concert of Carson, the famous rockstar. His Nemesis Knife devises a plan to get rid of Carson by asking a favour from the demon lord. The demon lord takes Carson’s talent and throws it into a dimension of virtual reality where he as well gets sucked into.
Carson to re-obtain his skill and talent must travel through various worlds in the dimension. In each world Carson has to collect songs in which will help him get through each level, as well as 100 musical notes which can be used to upgrade your character there is many bosses in which you must eliminate to get to the demon’s lair which is the only way in and out.

:p Nothing more than an idea that just amused me for the last hour lol, oh ps its a action adventure game, Inspiration: Banjo Kazooie

Working in it, almost doubled the speed and have improved the reliability a lot, handles pretty much anything I throw at it now. Simple doors and windows or holes in simple walls takes ~10ms. Still got some features I want to add to give more options for the user, and probably add a slice mode (need to figure a quicker way to detect isolated faces) and can probably squeeze some more performance out.

I will be purchasing this as well, I doubt you have time, but a tutorial on HOW would be awesome, or some references? :D... perhaps included with the asset?

Might as well post in this thread. Decided to finish all of the models I started working on for the project I'm doing. I have the list sorted alphabetically, and of course the first item on the list is "AK-47". Just finished that today.

Well he asked for Hellboy's hand gun. I think I did an 'okay' job. Not very good though... feedback?

Your AK is far superior to mine. Can you tell me how you made the textures?

Hah, dude! Don't care about tidyness, put it on the asset store as it is, that stuff is GENIUS! How did you do that?? Also, what about all your other scripts? You have great stuff on your youtube, you should sell those scripts! Even for learning purposes I'd love to buy them all!

Sure I can get into it a bit. Here's a half resolution pic of the normal map and diffuse so you can see what's going on under the hood.

The diffuse was almost all hand painted, minus the wood blending between smooth and rough which was from cgtextures. For the other aspects of the wood, custom brushes were used. The wearing effect on the metal was kind of interesting because it was sort of the result of a mistake, but basically what I did was I painted that with a soft edged brush, then I duped that layer about a dozen times so the edges were mostly hard. I merged those dozen layers then I selected the transparency, inverted the selection and expanded the selection about 3 pixels and deleted the selected portion.

The normal map was actually way more minimalist then I usually go for, but I tried adding detail to the metal and it just ended up looking worse, so I kept it smooth minus the scratches, which you can barely see in the image but are actually pretty noticeable on the model.

Oh, almost forgot to mention: For the diffuse, I baked ambient occlusion generated from maya, hence all the weird shadows and stuff.

Hey, Nathan, looking good. Just reduce the intensity and change the colour of your light, and the ambient light to match the skybox. Maybe a very dark highly desaturated blue for the ambient light.

love the boolean cutter... I'd buy it if it were in the store.... I was just talking with a firend the other day, how it would be great if there were a boolean creator.
Does it have UV and or Material control over what material shows up on the cut section ?

    cheers

    That's beautiful!

I would say polish it a little bit and put it in the asset store. Even if you just finish it in your free time. I know there were a few people asking for such a system a while ago.

It handles multi material objects fine, the material and uv mapping for any new surfaces is taken from the Operand B mesh, in the pic the Operand A mesh is the cube and the Operand B is the sphere, hence getting the grey part inside, think this gives best control over what will go on a sliced/booled surface. System also handles multiple uv channels and vertex color, will also have a look at bone weights and bone ids as I am sure someone will want to blow a hole in a zombie somewhere along the line :)

Hope to have some better grabs and video and web player done soon.
