Nicework guys, been following this thread for a while...

While I don't have anything to show, just curious as to what software people use, I know that blender and zbrush are kinda popular, but what of others (general listing?)?

    Cheers.

Try Sculptris. It does what ZBrush does and is free.

I also have another comment: the character looks like a robot duck (not sure), can you change his color and make him let's say partly yellow so he can stand out more against the environment?

In fact, the robot will be able to change body parts in the game. Also, this is the first zone of the game with a darker lighting. Different zones have different base light colors, so we have to counter check later on how the coloring works out. But textures can be adapted, that's no problem.

Btw. the game will feature random robot generation. With the current assets I can generate ~150 different robots. Final version will contain ~3500 different robots (partly due to texture coloring).

I would also try to light the areas in a way that the path he walks are the brightest lot areas. Basically draw the eye to the character and his play area.

    What will the robot do?

Hey guys, just working on some OLD skin for my model... first time really designing a character that is a super-centenarian and really getting a feel for the look...he certainly won't move like an old man, but the continued use of his powers has accelerated his age. I am also still tweaking the specular values to get that very soft feel to the skin, almost leathery... my custom shader now uses a Gloss, a Specular Power, and a Secondary specular...

    Unity Render:

I was toying with that idea at first... especially since the eyes are hidden under the hood on the primary model...

I like the one on the left better, but, you have to fix the faceted look of the models... :)

Yes, the area where the robot is walking is too dark. We'll adapt this once the first section is complete.

The game is a more or less classical 2.5D J&R. Beside the puzzles and mini-games, the player will have to use different body parts (changing upper body and lower body) to get past obstacles, avoid enemies, do boss fights, etc.

Instead of a room based level construction (such as Rochard is using), the levels are completely free to walk onto. Means, from start to end the player will be able to return on his path to chose an alternative path through the level (at certain points, the player will be able to visit the other levels in a different ordering dependent on the exit he has chosen). The player will even be able to return from the sixth zone back to the first one.

Dependent on the difficulty level the player has selected, a spawn director will generate different enemies, which will increase the replay value of the game.

Scorpion, poisonous one. Mainly it will represent some danger and challenge for player when hunting becouse it causes death if bitten.

That is a killer scorpion... :)... question, are you doing your screenshots from your modeling program? Because I think Unity needs a screenshot command... and yes, +1 to sticky this thread...

dude, that is really great! May i ask where will you use it?
my only suggestion that the render could be a bit brighter, but perhaps its just me.

Neptune, most of the times yes, either from Mudbox or Marmoset toolbox.
It will be used in medieval game kalamona. It will be used in deserts and some other areas.
Hm yes i agree dont know why but this time render was quite dark, dont know why considering that light was quite bright.
