What are unity setting files located in the settings folder?

    While following Sebastion Lague's Procedural Plants series, I encountered settings files (assets?) in an Assets/Settings directory:
    Assets/Settings/Colour.asset
    Assets/Settings/Shape.asset

    I have been unable to look at the settings (asset?) files themselves.

    1. What are Unity Settings/Asset files, if this even is a Unity thing?
    2. How are they generated/edited?

    ... or am I barking up the wrong tree?

    None of my projects have this Settings folder.
