I don't understand this. New to Unity, coming from unreal, I was under the influence it back ups automatically. I cant find that folder as I experienced a wipe while I was dragging in a fbx.

When this happen, the texture for the landscape turned pink. I had no clue what was going on. So, I saved to shutdown. I come back and the scene is gone!!!!! Assets folder has one empty folder with the name from before. This folder was full of assets! I am a musician and know all about backing up. All my software auto back up! So, pleeeeease tell me there is a folder......

    Thank you for your time....

Unity don't do backup for you.
Imagine project is few GB of size. You then have another GB of potential backups.

As a developer and not only, you are responsible for backing up.
Using version controlling is prime step, for backing up project. While coping project for backup is optional.
You should never assume, if software A does one thing, software B will do it too.

Regarding files, I can not imagine, that simply dragging 3d model into project, would delete anything. So my best guess is, you moved your folder accidentally somwhere. In worse case scenario, maybe you have hit delete and confirmed?

Check bin. Check all nearby folders, which could contain your files, when possibly dragged accidentally.

Also, make sure, you save often.

Yes, the fix is to use source control like GitHub, so if something becomes corrupt, you can easily restore it.

You can try closing Unity, then removing the obj and Library folders in your project folder, then re-opening Unity.

Source control is already mentioned, but just to clarify... source control is the software dev industry standard way of making backups and tracking changes to your projects. Git and SVN are the two most popular systems, with their own pros/cons. If you don't want to use one of those systems right now, make frequent backups of the whole project folder (such as in a zip file), though you can save some space by leaving out things like the Library folder. There's other threads on what exactly you can leave out if you're trying to minimize disk space.
