Welcome to the DOTS Animation sub forum! You can use this forum to ask for help, share feedback, and have discussions about the Unity Animation package.

    Introduction
The Unity Animation package contains a new animation system built on top of DOTS tech, such as Burst, Entities, and Data Flow Graph. As with other packages in the DOTS ecosystem, we encourage you to follow along with our development and to share your experiences here with us and each other. This package is currently experimental, and so is not supported for production use at this time.

We still have much work in front of us, but many of our product goals are aligned with other packages in the DOTS ecosystem:
    • Scalability: Achieve optimal animation performance for any target hardware
    • Streamability: Manage large, complex, and dynamic animation graphs
    • Networking Readiness: Animate characters with client-side prediction and rollback as needed
    • Customizability: Craft an animation pipeline to suit your game's player loop
Additionally, we want to take this opportunity to offer all-new tools and workflows tailored to problems of characters and animation. We want small teams to be maximally productive, and large teams to be able to parallelize complex tasks.

    Current State
The package is still in an early state and is undergoing continuous change. We will do our best to make breaking changes gradual when it is practical to do so, but because it is an experimental package you should expect that disruptive changes may happen at any time.

    Feedback and Bugs
The dev team is currently focused on validating some core design choices in specific productions. As such, we will have limited engagement in this space in the near term. We will post updates here when we are more available for processing feedback and engaging with the broader community. Early adopters should use this forum in the meantime as a space for providing mutual support and exchanging ideas.
