Unity 3.5 is one of our biggest releases to-date. It’s packed full of new features and improvements that we think you are going to love. We can't wait to see what you will create with it, so we've decided to open our 3.5 beta program to the public. Starting today, you can download a time-limited beta version of Unity 3.5.

This release also provides a hands-on preview of Unity's upcoming Flash deployment add-on. Experience first-hand how Flash deployment in Unity opens up new publishing options, by enabling you to push your interactive 3D content to the web through Adobe Flash Player.

Make use of this new forum to discuss the beta, report any issues you have but keep in mind that we have an FAQ you should check that will keep you up to date with known problems.

Noob questions: what will happen in terms of license to people that already have a 3.4.x PRO version installed when the Beta will expire?

•GUI class now has a DrawTextureWithTexCoords function for specifying texture coordinates.

    Well played unity, well played.

Zooming but thats the only thing cause Graphics.DrawMesh does not batch anyway so even if you run it all from 1 texture it will not reduce the drawcalls.

A word of warning: Backup your projects before converting to the 3.5 preview or don't blame others later on for your failure cause the projects won't move back to 3.5 after conversion

You mean back to 3.4? Why shouldnt a project opend with this beta be hindered to open with a final 3.5+?

    Back to 3.4 yes.

And nobody said it won't open with future versions but you might want to go back to 3.4 as its only a preview and preview != stable != needfully usable for production != needfully bugfree

I mentioned that only cause in the past different users trashed their projects in open betas / new versions and regreted that they forgot to backup before upgrading

Dreamora means if something doesn't work the way you want it too in 3.5 beta you can't go back to 3.4 cause you didn't backup a 3.4 project. So backup your 3.4 project before you convert it to 3.5 cause there is no going back ..

Wait, something that rather immediately worries me from the Preview FAQ : http://unity3d.com/unity/preview/faq

I figured the new VC API would require a separate license, but without the .meta files, doesn't this pretty much kill all VC for even Pro users who've used it before? That sounds like a MASSIVE step backwards.

Does a Pro license cross version numbers, of do 3.4 Pro users have to pay for a 3.5 Pro license? 4.0 Pro?

    3.0 - 3.x = no pay for upgrade, 3.0 - 4.0 pay you must.

Anyone else got problems with the Mac OS-X download? 2 corrupt disk images and I'm now downloading a third.

EDIT: yep, third is corrupt too. It's a problem on your side.

The new VCS features were confirmed to require the Asset Server license / Team License, which is a Unity Pro addon

hmmm it downloads to the point "A few seconds remaining - 500 of 501 MB (9.9 MB/sec) then it just stays there and doesn't do anything, when you get to that stage, if on firefox press pause, then resume and it completes

    "Pro/Advanced Licenses:
    - Text based scene and prefab formats make it possible to merge scene files.
    - .meta file support"

I made the same mistake on skim reading it the first time. Looks like the version-control API and the Cache Server are the big-ticket Team License features, but Pro/Advanced still has the ability to manually commit and sync changes in your version-control system of choice.

In the past it was ~50% of fullprice for each license / license addon (so $750 for pro 2 to pro 3, $750 for iOS advanced 1.x to iOS pro 3 and in case of asset server clients it was $150 for the upgrade of unity 2 of unity 3, where its $500 full)

Hah, okay, yeah I should have read that a bit more thoroughly. Thanks for clearing that up. Giant sigh of relief.

Wolfos, Pro users usually get a discount on an upgrade.

That's because unity have clearly been bombed by lots of users. I'm in UK and I got it. You'll need to just try again/be patient.

    Also worth to note,
"Once you have opened your project in 3.5 Developer Preview it will no longer open in previous versions of Unity."

Quite annoying that cannot compile if there is any error in any script (even if its not used on the published project..)

Thats osx, where the thing always was totally oversized. Thats a matter of apples use of ZIP in DMG vs Microsoft using a reasonable compression for binary data in their CAB / MSI

Figured it was because on Mac OS-X, it contains 3 binaries. PowerPC, 32 bit X86 and X86_64.

Will anyone here build anything for that Flash contest?
Sounds cool and all, but 14 days (-hollydays with family) is a too short deadline for anything "good", unless people submit stuff they have done already and just convert it to flash.
