The webplayer throws this error with projects built with 5.3.1p1.

I have downloaded the most recent version of the webplayer.

I'm also getting this error and can't find any info on it.

Same issue here. Version of web player installed does not seem to matter.

Probably needs the web player release to catch up with the editor release. Kinda ridiculous that they're out of sync, but not terribly surprising with the imminent dropping of web player.

Im having the same problem and tried to use the WebGl instead and its just as screwed up and useless. This is an example of something that wasn't broke and did not need to be fixed and they nuked it anyways before having a proper alternative already set up before a release. .

The patch releases are not supporting webplayer builds. Only full releases do. It says so right at the top of the patch release download page. So you have to use 5.3.1f1 or wait for 5.3.2f1.

Hello, does this also applies to WebGL builds? And if so, may I ask what other builds do the patch releases not support when building, other than Web Player builds?

This doesn't apply to WebGL builds since these don't depend on a runtime being available on the internet. Everything WebGL needs is right there in the build.

All other builds should be good to go in patch releases. Not quite sure about some of the consoles since these come with their own installers.

I get the problem with the release version 5.3.2.f1. Has anyone got it working with the latest release? I'm on a Mac using Safari 9.0.3 and I get "failed to decompress data for the AssetBundle 'WebStartData'". I have homework to deliver in six days. If anyone knows a past version that I should install, please let me know.

Past stable version is 5.2.4f1. All versions in between 5.2.4f1 and 5.3.2f1 are unstable, according to most developers here.

Actually it applies but might be difficult to trace. It doesn't appear when running in Editor and only appears when WebGL is actually built and playing game in browser. It's more difficult to trace errors on the real running game. However, I used Consolation (https://github.com/mminer/consolation) to print everything what comes out to the console. So as a result in Editor everything works fine, while in built game it gives "Failed to decompress data for the AssetBundle" errors and asset bundles are not being loaded.

This does not apply for WWW class usage on downloading and extracting asset bundles, as everything works nicely there with asset bundles being loaded in WebGL builds.
