So, Unity gets lots of platforms, but, web sector - google chrome cuts out npapi, so webplayer hurts. Opera notice about cut it out = weblayer crippled, and we gets only WebGL for web. But WebGL gets problems everywhere (Unet, memory, size, speed, etc). So, just interested in: when WebGL >= Webplayer? It's hard to make web project, without working web platform...
There is a sticky in this forum where we talk about the road map for WebGL. You find all the info we have on the matter there but sadly for most bigger leaps we have to work hand in hand with browser vendors so we can't dictate the pace ourselves.
not yet, but its going on the right track So far we've published 30+ webgl games, where its webplayer versions are definitely stabler than the webgl, but during the bast 4-6 months, Webgl is getting better and better
True, but, we stuck coz substance (dynamic changes needs) - not working (part of gameplay), weight of WEB(!) build - not good as webplayer, WebGL - nice RAMeater, some parts of network (UDP) not supported... So, as for us, we gets crippled half of game parts... Optimist inside me, goes in gulag...
Well, Lance, we have all those problems as well, plus additional crashes on Chrome (yep, as chrome was the main reasons why we invest into webgls) including the size increasing as well. The truth is, webgl will get better, probably and hopefully, but the real problem is how many studios, devs and companies are able to await that.. :/
