Web View for Windows

Hello.

I want to implement web view inside my game. But most of the assets I found on the web were only for Android.
I'd like to know if there is a good web view asset for free.

If you have experience with C++, you could probably wire in WebKit library or something similar (gecko, blink), build it into a native plugin and use the result render web pages onto textures.

Games these days rarely display web-pages, because browsers are heavy and web page standards are complicated.

 

Embedded Browser is available for standalone platforms. It's not free but then that's because it's a great deal of work getting a web view inside of a game both in the initial development and in the maintenance required as you can't just release once and expect it to work forever. Web standards change too fast for that.

And yet, on the Asset Store it says, "Latest release date Jun 1, 2020". I would not use it for 3rd party content.

 

Recent reviews have and had responses from the publisher, but the main reason that I pointed to it was that it's the least expensive of the options available. There is an alternative that gets updates but it's much more expensive and priced per platform.
