Let's be honest here, even if Nhydro releases it's asset after all, this long silence is not good for sale, I think people would be afraid of the support and future of the asset (I would be). I know it's hard but releasing an asset means giving at least a bit of news every mounth or so.
I just hope nothing bad happended to the developer.

When they first announced this I was not convinced they had solved all of the technical/practicality issues in a way that made this tech suitable for general use. So I am not surprised it has not come to fruition, the last 10% is always tricky and it would not surprise me with this sort of sim-based project if they got stuck well before they even reached the last 10% of effort. Of course there may be entirely different reasons why this didnt turn into a product (yet) but I was certainly not surprised that it did not arrive as planned, regardless of what competition exists in this space.

Is this abandoned? It would be very sad if the author stopped working on it.

I searched a lot for an water that's not for HDRP or LWRP or URP and I can't find anything good enough. This would be great

For now this seems to be a good option

Does anyone know the email of this company/author? Because I would pay the entire price even if the asset is not complete because it is just amazing. That's the best water that I've ever seen

You can get bogged down in trying to achieve ultra realism. It looks beautiful, which is what matters. Would be a shame if this was never to see the light of day.

Crest Ocean is on Github and is still in development, definitely worth a look.

AQUAS and SUIMONO (paid assets) are the only ones that have a shoreline-like effect.
But the quality isn't like the NHydro's one.

Yeah, the cool of this one is the shoreline, Crest has a good water looking but we need a good shoreline.

I've looked pretty extensively for the past several years and can say there's pretty much nothing out there that comes close to the shoreline quality of this asset. Most others seem to rely on the depth buffer or distance fields/heightmap to blend to a foam texture near the shore (which isn't very realistic, needless to say). I imagine if we wait a few more years some AAA studio will figure out a novel means of raymarching shoreline waves, but for now I've got nothin'. :(

Baking is the easy part. Using in a practical manner? That's the challenge.

Crest adjusts wave strength depending on water depth, and shallow water looks suitably calm and foamy where terrain intersects. It's not a realistic shoreline but it does run smoothly in VR on my old i5 with NVidia GTX 970. It's definitely worth trying out, especially given it's free.

The problem with water in blender is that it looks like a lot of particles with a rigidbody and the sand and the rocks are looking like they are a hydrophobic surface make the water to look like this:

Maybe this is what you need?

Crest is very good for interactions with the ocean as it can "warp the mesh" of the ocean ...
Besides it can achieve a very high visual realism

with this amount of bloom we really cant see nothing, in the second example its looks like the behavior of a ocean near a cliff and not a beach shoreline.

I was gonna say, if you can't see the shoreline then there's no problem! :p

Can someone build the old demo files from this thread. In Editor is still running but the build has no texture animation?

    btw
This VAT repository makes it pretty easy now to bake this kind of ocean shoreline out from houdini and helps to spawn the particles.

KWS is more recent plugin, and realtime.
although the waves seemed to be baked into texture, so you can place those waves around the scene as gameobjects,
i dont think it react to objects (as in crashing waves to rocks)

I believe the the whater of the first post is also baked. In fact it says it on the tittle of the video. But I recall reading later on the post of texture sizes for the baked sequence. But I think that Crypto's asset is pretty much on pair with this, and not sure if cryptos package allow for baking waves crashing into custom objects tho.

Thought so because KWS has also precomputed content for the shoreline you can freely arranage..
