I would like to work for Unity. How much do unity employee get for doing nothing?2-3 days awaiting for moderation.. No answers on any question and if any then like this "Sorry i'm tired" . Its a great job. I promiss i will say more than "Sorry i'm tired" for less money. Just let me know, unity management.

    ??

I wouldn't normally give a post like this the respect of answering it, as it just seems to be baiting and trollish.

On the other hand, if there is an issue, I'd like to know what it is.

I have reviewed your existing content and can't see any obvious unanswered questions that you've asked.

If you're not just trolling, what is your real issue?

The issue is that questions in Unity Answers thread take for about 2-3 days to be moderated...just to make your question visible. I mean 2-3 days is enough to make a game. Nothing agaist You, but Unity Answers is just useless.

IIRC once you use Unity Answers a bit you'll be able to skip the moderation queue. It is there for new users to keep spam to a minimum (though I agree it can be annoying).

I've hardly used Answers, I would likely be put in that queue too!

Yes, with a really good team it's just enough to make a raw game, ready fopr publishing in 2-3 days.

We get nothing*. All of the mods on answers are volunteers. All of the answers are provided by the community.

You are totally welcome to come join us. Anybody can start posting answers. And posting a couple of decent answers or comments is the best way to get yourself past the 15 karma mark and off the mod queue.

To work as a mod you need to build up 1,000 karma. Its not that difficult if you know what you are talking about. At 10,000 karma you get access to more powerful mod tools, almost giving you admin access. By that point you know all of the Unity community management staff by name and can get pretty much anything done, even if you don't have access.

Despite pretty much anyone being able to do this, there are only about 50 users who have hit the 10K karma mark.

*Okay, that's a lie. I got sent a t-shirt from one of the Unity staff as a thank you. But based on my hourly rates, that's probably a $15,000 T-shirt.

Shouldn't the whole discussion be bounded under an NDA or something?

Because you didn't market it well to attract players in that time span.

How is this thread still open, haha?
    • Unity Answers mods are not Unity Technologies employees. They are volunteers from the community who get paid nothing.
    • You're being a whiny brat. If you have a legitimate issue, there are proper ways to address it. This is not the proper way.
    • If you're capable of making a game in 2-3 days, you should be skilled enough to not need to rely on Unity Answers to solve your problems for you.

There is a new button next to the "Create MMORPG" in 5.3. "Random game in 3 days" or something similar.

No answers to a question is not mods fault. It could be because your questuon is too complex or nobody knows the answer to it.

Moderators are doing a great job keeping the community away from trolls and spammers.

Being able to post anything at all is good enough. Now we're immortalized in these forums for future generations to come by and wonder what it was we were trying to achieve by posting here before the thread closed.

And it just takes a while. It's not like it's been a month :p

Plenty of games can be made in 2/3 days; look at 24 and 48 hour game jams!

But half decent, well-polished and optimised games that are releasable onto stores? Probably not.

It took me 2 to 3 days to make a pong-meets-breakout game and abandon it. It just wasn't as fun as it seemed like it would be in my head. From the sounds of it, I should have slapped it onto the Google Play store and charged $.99 for it.

I guess flash is a superior environment to unity because I'm pretty sure when I was in middleschool I made pong in flash in a day... maybe two days.

Make a game AND abandon it in that amount of time? Were you part of the team behind assassin's creed : unity ?

QuickBASIC would have been even faster... well to code. Actual performance would have been lousy as was typical for it.

Should take 3 to 4 hours from scratch without unity, when person knows what they're doing and have working framework at hand.

Maybe we should do a 48 hour forum competition who makes the best pong clone in that time? Pong-Jam?

Pong-Jam is a good name. And pong is simple enough that anyone could enter a competition like that. Even someone with only 5 minutes to spare.

I have a feeling a lot of entries would look really similar. Could be a pong look alike contest.

@Yash987654321 I've been meaning to say for some time. Your profile picture at a glance reminds me of this.

Exactly. Game jams/prototypes/etc are different. They are typically core loop/mechanics with minimal tuning content and polish.

And that is (or should be) a self evident problem when people complain about not making money or getting downloads from their half ass project. It's just lazy and ignorant. Hell, even spending another week to improve it will up the quality. Or several months. Why would people want to pay for something that even the clearly doesn't care about?

I might have some time to participate between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Though I imagine that could be an especially bad time for people who visit their families in that time. Maybe it could be an ongoing jam where people make a post "I'm starting now" and 48 hours later they have to post the result or they failed the challenge? Or would it be better to just pick a date for all, and whoever doesn't have time then can still make a pong clone after the main event is over?

I think this could be a nice excercise in "adding juice" (Does someone have the link at hand? I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about). Give a clear definition of what the game has to have in terms of functionality and focus on making this barebones mechanic as fun as possible without actually innovating on the concept. Is that a good approach, because most jams are rather about innovating and trying a concept as a rough prototype? Or is that the exact reason why it is a bad idea? I'll admit I'm probably only drawn to the more polish focused approach because that's what I'm better at.

There should a section completions/jams it would be so fun and there should be a option "submit game" and a given time no one will be able to submit and the people can download and vote for their fav game

    +1 to a 'community competition' sub-forum :p

Ongoing game jams - that'd be interesting. For pong I don't know how much time any of us really need, haha.

I was thinking something like that. Maybe limit the number of extra mechanics that can be added.

Ah - I don't spend much time on Unity Answers. It's pretty much a different community, and many people like it a lot, but I'm very unfamiliar with it, as I don't have much time to spend there after I've done my "day job" creating materials, and then help moderate the teaching and getting started forums.

TBH, I'm not sure why you chose the teaching section to make this statement, as it will probably be lost on the people who can do anything about that. Are there moderators on Answers that you can ping?
