Vuforia vs ARFoundation for marker-image tracking

So am revisiting an older project created using Vuforia using its marker + extended tracking feature. This was a few years ago!

Now I am wondering whether I should 'upgrade' this project to either the most recent version of Vuforia or
use the image tracking feature in ARFoundation.
I experienced many issues with the extended tracking feature in Vuforia and don't know if it has been improved at all.

I only need to target iOS.

Has anyone worked with both and can comment?
