volume fog close distance WITH god rays possible?

    HELLO ALL. is there any way to have the volumetric fog pulled all the way in AND have shadowed god rays at the SAME time? or is this just a mathematical impossibility? (at least with the current code)?

    im speaking of course about the Volumetric Fog Distance slider in the fog volume settings. HERE is my problem: unless the slider is pulled all the way IN, i get this really weird black circle around my player with absolutely NO fog inside of it, (especially noticeable when above the ground). so i fix it by pulling the slider in, but then lose all god rays.

    this is TERRIBLE. is there an easy, quick solution i havent found yet?

    perhaps a redesign of the code:

    to have it at LEAST fade a bit better in close range around this black sphere of NO fog. so it doesnt look so jarring and sudden.

    and TWO: have a control amount of fog close in to compromise more fog WITH the ability to have emptiness for god rays to fill.
