What are some rough guidelines for rendering constraints for the vive? Triangle count? Bones? Shaders? Texture resolution? Lighting?

None – the Vive is just a dumb terminal.
Your PC does the work, so it will determine the ‘constraints’.

    How about:

    Intel Core i9-9900K

ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 O8G ROG STRIX OC Edition

    16 GB RAM

    Samsung 970 PRO 512GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD

WD Blue 1TB PC Hard Drive - 7200 RPM

EVGA Supernova 750 G3, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular PSU

    ASUS TUF Z390-Plus Gaming

I assume by posting here you intend developing a VR product.

Probably best to define it and start it first and then pose questions as how to optimise it –
Because the constraints you initially mentioned play off against each other.
Static vs. dynamic objects, real-time lighting/shadows vs. baked lightmaps, photo-realistic rendering vs. stylised environments, complexity of size vs. complexity of interaction and so forth.

You did not say what are you doing, eg. if you are making a game that you will later on sell then using a beast machine can be a poor choice to develop on when targeting to VR min specs .

True. What are the minimum specs for VIVE?

I think SteamVR performance tests min were:

Intel Core i5-4590/AMD FX 8350 equivalent or better
    4 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or better

Thanks! What are some rough numbers for those?
