Virtual Reality Project

Hello,
I have to work on a project using some data source or art or music as source for changing content. For example, you are in new york city starting from 1950 to present . You have to take population and everything in consideration and change the people etc. The example is too hard to implement . Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated?
