Violent game with cute animals (blood/gore) - How to publish it?

Hello there.

I have a parallel project that consists of a 'run and gun' game with cute animals that's somewhat violent, it's on early stage but some graphics and mechanics are ready, however, some friends told me it's too violent and I'm not sure if I can just publish the game as usual on Google Play. Any ideas if I'll have any problems with this game regarding the violence?

Too violent? lol? I've probably seen waaaay more violent games than that. I don't think it'll be a problem at all.

Do you think the art style is bad? That's only an early WIP but I'm planning to keep the basic style for the characters.

 

Looks pretty appealing to me in all honesty.

Looks great, go for it! There's not nearly enough gore nowadays!

Gore is good for kids. Kids exposed to gore are more likely to become doctors such as surgeons, according to studies that I've made up in my head.

Of course there's going to be some more blood when I start making the particles, but the part that impressed my friends in a bad way is that skull with the suspended eyes... of course after playing soldier of fortune I don't see any violence in that... that's closer to love imho .

 

Since the mood here is getting pretty friendly, I'd like to take the opportunity to ask something else:

A weapon is called "Pile of S***" (possibly Sh!t as a bad censorship) that works like a grenade or something, any ideas if that may be offensive to some players? The entire game is meant to be funny but you never know... nowadays people take offence from everything.

Another weapon that is quite controversial among my friends is the 'bieber cd', it explodes the brains of all enemies on-screen and it plays the music 'babe babe babe' (of course it's not bieber itself and only those 3 words are sung). I don't know if I could have any problems regarding copyrights and stuff as it's a clear reference.

rofl bieber cd I would sooo play that game, but I am not sure if you can use his name in commercial product. You can always rename it something that sounds similar.

 

I like the art, and I like the weapon ideas. I think you could censor words which can make a game funny as hell, but so can the actual words. It just depends on how you do it.

As for your current two weapon ideas, I would change them a bit. Make the bieber cd's make the first enemy it hits have his head explode. Then the S*** grenade can go off and clear the screen. Only because when S*** hits the fan it clears a room.

 

Thank you . It makes me sad that nowadays you don't have any freedom at all, basically you hit a fly and get sued for life. . I'm going to think how I can make that reference in a more subtle way.

I'd tell your friends to stop being such pussies and just make the game you want to make. If people are offended by cartoon violence and swear words, then that's their problem.

I'll surely going to give a free copy of my game to you guys since these kind words are very important to keep me motivated... unfortunately Google Play doesn't allow that so I think the only way is to distribute the APK directly.

 

Sure is edgy in here. Do what you're gonna do, just don't act like a cockwit if somebody gets confused or complains. Maybe have the characters carry guns in the artwork, I don't know.
