    Hey everyone,

    UPDATE
Please note that this package is about to receive a HUGE HD update.(450mb +)
    - The textures will be added 2 x the current resolution
    - Normal & AO maps for all textures as well

You can check Facebook, Twitter and this Forum Thread to see some screenshots of this.

3DForge is 1 years old and as a special thank you to you the Unity users,
we would like you to have this Demo scene and all 55 meshes, 55 prefabs and all textures that populates it.

The package already has 1633 meshes & 1779 Prefabs with all of them light map ready.
It will boast more than 2000 prefabs when the Catacombs update lands.
It is the largest most comprehensive Interiors Kit on the Asset Store.

    Hey everyone,

The Village Interiors Kit has GROWN to more than double it's release size

The package has received another VERY large FREE UPDATE : Catacombs & Crypts

This contents has on request been added a separate smaller package as well.
    https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/20859

What needs to be noted is that the exact same scene is used for the TopDown as well as the FPS demo,
only ceiling modular components was added, so you don't have to buy two sets of assets.
Also the TopDown demo is a tiny 12mb and the FPS 10mb so they run supers mooth and would be very good for mobile as well.

Have sound available, it has a nice creepy ambient sound track.

    The Crypt TopDown DEMO
    http://www.3dforge.co.za/3DForge_DEMOS/FantasyInteriors_Village/TheCrypt_TopDown.html
    The Crypt First Person DEMO
    http://www.3dforge.co.za/3DForge_DEMOS/FantasyInteriors_Village/TheCrypt_FPS.html

There are more smaller packages coming for those whom want to just get specific parts
    - Taverns & Inns
    - Castles & Cathedrals
    - Village Houses & Shops

But Village Interiors Kit owners already have them all include and will receive all future updates FREE as well.
Buying the FULL collection as one purchase is strongly recommended since there is not later upgrade option available

Here are some screenshots from the "Catacombs & Crypts"
The demos are as usual included as part of the package with some more Multi-level demos to be added in the near future

Email me and let me know what you think
    info@3dforge.co.za

    Cheers

    Hi,

*** Please read the FULL post before going to the product pages !!! ***

The Full kit has received several FREE Updates and had grown beyond the initial planned scope :)
With package owner each time receiving the extra contents for FREE.

There were some users that requested smaller parts as separate packages.

Catacombs & Crypts is another packager already extracted
    https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/20859

I did not want users feel cheated by releasing the small packs separate and then a cheaper BUNDLE.
I personally felt that would be wrong and would prefer to get the best deal presented at the same time.

There are two more packages going to be extracted out of the FULL Village Interiors Kit in the pipeline.

Buying the Full Village Interiors Kit is cheaper than buying them separated you will effectively saving more than 50%
Even the two already extracted packages is $10 more than the FULL Village Interiors Kit

The Asset Store does NOT allow for any upgrade options later

Please feel free to go grab the FREE Blacksmith Forge package to get a small taste
    https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/17785

    The Village Interiors Kit https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/17033
has received another FREE UPDATE "Stone Keep"

The second smaller package has been extracted on User request
    Castles & Cathedrals Kit https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/21410

    Forgotten Arcane Cathedrals ...
Dark Medieval Castles & Dungeons ...
Ancient Lost Library of Knowledge ...

Wherever your adventure leads you next,
this Fully Modular Kit will assist you in building that game scene you always wanted to,
be it a Top Down, FPS or a 3rd person game.

Try the demos and see for yourself

    Hey 99thmonkey

I think Gabriel from ProCore has some of the most spectacular useful tools on the Asset Store
After using any of his tools you would not want to go without it.

It is part of the reason why I made sure that the walls and floors are exported to suite the ProGrids 2 package owners some extra fun https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/4466

As you must have seen the variety that cam inside your Village Interiors Kit, you are not going to be able to resist when you see the completed Companion Exteriors Kit.

It will be fully usable as a Lone Standing Kit or as a companion to the Interiors Kit.

Email me some screen shots :) to info@3dforge.co.za

    Cheers

I just bought this along with ProGrids. And they're just great! I'll be sure to drop by frequently to see what else is on offer.....!

However, one question - can you tell me the settings I should use for grids in ProGrid that match this package. I've been messing about in Preferences and now I'm confused. :(

    TIA

    Hey there,

First of all, thanks for the purchase and trust in 3DForge products.

As stated in the read me 0,5m will give you the correct setting to have all 3 axis working.
2,5m x 2,5m for the width & depth and then 3m for height.
Those 3 divide by 0,5 as the biggest number.

ProGrids is so cool, when you have used it some, you not going to want to be without it, and you going to wonder why you did not get it sooner.

Just a friendly request to please add a STAR * rating and you review to assist others in making informed choices when spending there hard earned money, same as existing reviews gave you guidance.

For faster responses, info@3dforge.co.za or @3DForge on twitter, that is on my phone,
so if I am awake I will see it right away :)

    1) How to use the Secret Doors...
    2) How to use the windows so I can see light coming through them

    Hey there,

The secret doors are prefabs that the door item itself has been exported with the Y-Axis in the correct place so that rotation via code can be implemented.

To do a quick test, drag the prefab to the scene, click on it so that the "door"
    1. Make sure about the selection for rotation to be correct.
    2. This is how it should then look when you have selected correctly
    3. Now with the rotate gizmo, can rotate or input numeric values on the inspector

Trapdoors in the floor the same, just the X-Axis this time being the rotational axis

Windows, because you don't have an actual hole in the wall but rather act as a decal I placed a alight source in front of each and in the cathedrals
    http://www.3dforge.co.za/3DForge_DEMOS/FantasyInteriors_Village/St_Alessandro_Cathedral.html
update added the cool Godrays to have beams shining in, so you can scale down smaller versions,
change colors and really get good looking effects especially with Unity FREE that does not have any proper GLOW functions.

Holding thumbs Unity 5 FREE gets some glowy things :)

With the companion exteriors Kit that is in the works, the windows that have holes in the walls will be added because you can then have fitting exteriors they become relevant.

Going to have cool, dirty, cracked and many glass types added to the window prefabs, shutter and windows that can be opened and closed :)

    Does this answer your questions?

    Cheers

    HAHA, I am excited myself.

It will be completely modular so that you can really do a HUGE variety of possibilities
Standalone as in just use the shells or snap the interiors into them.

With each package I do, it is like I design a pile of "LEGO" blocks that I then have fun with myself building all the samples and demo scenes with for showcasing and good examples as you have the 22 Demo scenes in the interiors kit

Like building toys and getting lots of friends to also play with them :)

Please email me with any suggestion to info@3dforge.co.za

Oh stop teasing us and show us some screenshots of your exteriors! I broke down and bought both the Sewer Pack and the Village Interiors late last night in fit of shopping withdrawal. Cheaper than new shoes! :) I am dying to see your exteriors though. One wee picture, please?

    Hi Teila,

Very cool avatar, looks like one of the classing Baldur's Gate or Ice Wind Dale ones, like Minsc.

With all the last FREE UPDATES to the village Interiors Kit and the last LARGE FREE update that the
Tile A Dungeon - Sewer Kit received I am not a ta stage to show yet.

But what I can offer is to email me on info@3dforge then I will add you to a short list of users that gets early preview via web player and images.

These users help shape the final results hugely since that are the users that are going to buy it.

I will keep an eye out for your email then :)

    Cheers

Actually, an artist friend made this for me, adding tattoos to a picture he found. It is based on the culture in a game I worked on years ago. :) That is Teila!

Here's a tip related to importing the Village Interiors Kit. It's so packed with content that some of the subfolder paths and filenames can get long. I had a project path that was a bit long and when added to paths like:

    Assets/3DForge/Fantasy_Interiors/Villages_&_Towns/Meshes/Cathedrals/cathedral_vaulted_roofs/small_vault_entrances/fi_vil_cath_vault_entranceSML_cornerright03.fbx

I ended up going over the 260 character path limit you get in Windows without doing special stuff. So on 18 of the FBX imports, I got errors.

Since it was a fresh project anyway, I simply created another project with a shorter name and fewer subfolders and was able to import everything just fine. So I just wanted to share that in case anyone sees "Couldn't read file" errors after importing.

Thanks for the continued support and thanks for the advice.

I can add to that as well.

It is a Unity thing and nor specific to 3DForge packages.

When I work on a project I even download and unpack the Asset Store package, so that I make sure that I have the same data as the users will have in their hand. I had instances when my local downloaded package became corrupted and a fresh download fixed the error messages.
Another error "can not excess the file" that I used to get was in fact my NOD32 antivirus firewall component.
I just deactivate it for a few minutes, and do the unpacking and then I do not get even one message.
It also goes WAY faster for some reason.

This is a trick with any packs, but especially with larger packs from any publisher.

    Cheers

I assume it's because of the Windows path length limitation. Might be less of an issue on Mac? What was really sad is that Windows wouldn't even let me delete those 18 files at first. I had to look up a trick to map part of the paths to a new drive letter before I could delete the files. Crazy.

I might give second thought to those wooden floors under the forge.... those forge sparks or a drip of fiery hot molten ore could be a bit disastrous.. heheh But looks AWESOME!

I picked this up along with the exteriors kit last evening. I've only looked at this kit so far, but am very impressed with the overall quality and depth of content provided. It is far more than I was expecting and I'm very pleased. My only criticism so far is that you seem to be a bit candle happy in your demo scenes. Candles with lights and particle systems are way over-used. And what's with the ginormous candles? ;)

    Hey there,

Glad you like what you found in the package :):)
With the scenes I rather wanted to make it brighter and users can then remove.
I really dont like it when you play a scene and you can not see what you doing.
Also, they just examples of what can be done.

The "ginormous candle" I think was done at the time the Catacombs & Crypts Update was released, so kind of fitting the idea of ceremonial candles and some people asked for GIANT candles, so like the other stuff, if I can do it I will give what the users would like to see.

"am very impressed with the overall quality and depth of content provided. It is far more than I was expecting and I'm very pleased."

Well, it ended up way more then just a village kit and make it a very good large selection covering MANY types of scenes and being constant with the textures and all that after the Interiors kit got the huge HD update, you can now see the coolness of it fitting with the Village Exteriors Kit so well.

Thanks for supporting 3DForge assets :):):)

    Cheers

Some of the sample scenes have walls, floors, and other props not marked as Static so you can't run Occlusion on them. I had to go in and select the various objects and mark them myself. One scene for sure is the old warehouse. I believe on of the Inns is that way too. Not sure about other scenes.

    Hi,

Thanks for supporting 3DForge assets :);)

I have had recent communications with the author of ObjectGrid3D where I supplied the full Village Interiors Kit & Village Exteriors Kit for the purpose of testing and be able to answer this very question you are asking.
The feedback I have received is that he is very happy with the compatibility.
But here I tag @XGT08 so that he can come give feedback right out the horses mouth.

If I look at his package and the reviews I recognize some of them as very critical users and yet they give detailed reviews and 5 STARS, so it shows that the package is a decently supported package with great functionality.

But lets wait and let the author come back and give some feedback.

    Hi there guys,

My name's Andrew, the developer of ObjectGrid3D. I decided to drop in and share a few pieces of information regarding the tool and the update that is coming real soon :)

The current version is very flexible and you can do lots of cool stuff with it. There are however (as always :) ) areas which need improvement such as usability and an easier workflow. When I released the initial version, my focus was to allow the users to use the tool to build levels regardless of the type of game they want to make. This lead to a pretty complex UI with lots of cool settings for sure, but which makes the tool a little bit hard to use.

As Cobus said, we recently made contact and I am currently using his wonderful assets to improve the tool. There are going to be lots of improvements and new features that I believe many of you will love. There's going to be a brand new snapping system which is more visual and much easier to use than in the current version, painting tools to allow you to paint objects anywhere you like (including support for brushes), better user interaction (more hotkeys and less need to use the GUI), environment awareness when placing objects, prefab tags to name just a few...

You can find more info about the new update here. It's kind of a long list :), but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

There is going to be a thread made when the package is ready (probably after I will submit it for review). The original estimation was that it will be ready somewhere at the end of June. I am afraid that it will take a little bit longer than that considering that I would also like to rewrite the documentation and put together a bunch of video tutorials. I will also post an announcement here.

All in all, this is a tool which I hold dear to my heart :) and I really hope you guys will like what's to come!

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Hi all.
I made a review of this kit last night. I had a great time. I was shocked.

Sorry about the low volume. You need to crank it up high.

There seems to be some missing meshes in Village Interiors asset. When I open the Cathedral demo scene, the roof is missing and you can see it shows Missing Mesh for the components.

Here is a working HotFix for those that do not want to have to re-download the WHOLE package for just this.
The AS version will be updates soon anyways.

    Hey everyone,
I had some good questions asked by another user in the Village Exteriors Kit thread that discuses the use of the Village Interiors Kit contents that will def be helpful to anyone using either of the packages, so here is that reply for convenience

I just wanted to make some images to help explain the basic system used with the Village Interiors & Village Exteriors Kits.
First of all for anyone that would want to use any one of them standalone and then as you have indicated some clarity of how to use together.

    1. The Village Interiors Kit was designed to be used Top Down or FPS.
With this in mind, the black outside facing faces was added at the time so that you would not look into the interiors from the outside with see through walls.
When the Exteriors Kit was done later they received the Exteriors facing faces.
The reason is that you surely would not want to load unwanted data that would not be required, but rather let that becomes relevant when buildings are entered and then only spend recources towards them.
    2. If I understand your question correctly then I trust that the below would have clarified that and you will now understand the grid system of the packages both ?

The first most important very basic thing to know is that the interiors Walls sits ON TOP OF the floor tiles, they do not snap onto the sides. This provides that the package is 100% modular and can easily work with many of the tool sets like Octave3D.
*** I have added a cool YouTube clip at the bottom that shows this great tool in action with the Village Interiors Kit.

Once you have constructed your interiors you can drag and drop in and build the rough shape represented by the supplied CORE blocks. Drag and drop the Core blocks into the Hierarchy, not just into the scene for very helpful reasons as explain further down ;)

Snap/add walls using Vertex snapping onto the CORE blocks
*** YouTube clip supplied at the bottom as well with other helpful tips
Add wooden frame as explained on image below.
    Add roof of choice.

CORE blocks can be hidden or deleted and Interiors contents snapped into place.

Combo examples of the in use:
Premium BLUEPRINTS and other to also download
Also grab the FREE Sword & Shield Inn to use and learn from

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask here, me or many of the other users would gladly assist in getting you go and have fun.

    Cheers
