Hey Guys, working on something new. This time some Viking stuff, finished a few shield variations. Rendered in Unity with standard shaders and 3 point lights. Hope you guys like it, feedback appreciated. Btw, I'm going to put this onto the asset store in a little bit, if anyone is interested in using them.

Have a nice day! Regards, holzi

    nice, but only shields?
I saw your goods on asset store, then saw your site.
I wonder if you are going to make some fantasy/medieval/viking characters.

thanks. my plan is to create a viking environment with a ship on a shore, decorational assets like crates, shields, tools and weapons as well as viking buildings and also a viking character to finish the scene. I'll update this thread with my progress, so stay tuned ;).

Im really liking the subtle little chips and scratches in the shields/axes; adds alot more detail to them then just a pure clean edge or surface. :D Please let us know when they get on the store!

thanks! glad you like it. i have submitted these to the asset store, shouldn't take to long till they're live I hope. I'll tell you when they are up - in the meantime, I'm starting the viking ship.

    Have a great day! Regards,

The Viking shields are live. Get them here: http://u3d.as/8Lq

Hope you like them, I optimized them a little further and added 3 LODs, so it should be suitable for every game.

well, definitely spears (just wanted to use them as a wall deco with the shields -like in the maya screenshot) ;) but of course also a sword as well as other decorational props like drinking horns.. basically everything needed to populate a nice viking village.

Looks promising. Will there be more detail like row benches and stuff inside boat? Are oars and shields separate objects that can be toggled off?

thanks. the shields are seperate objects.

what I have planned for the ship:

    • there will be lots of detail on the inside of the boat - it'll be suitable for first person view. That includes supply crates and water barrels, ropes, metal parts to connect the wooden planks and so on
    • i'll probably create 3 LODs with reduced interior stuff / polycount.
    • Sail: 1 version where the sail is full of wind and another one where it is fixed with ropes (when standing in a harbor for example)
    • paddle animation
    • dragon head
i'll post a new screenshot with a few of the above mentioned features in a little while.

    have a great day!

    Holzay,

Those are very nice. I really like the specular read on the axe models. Great work.
