Do you think it's worth integrating the Game Center into your game?

I know Apple would like it if all games used their game centre.

But then again could using their game centre make your app look a bit generic? Is there any point in making up a load of "achievements" if your game doesn't really have any? For example I saw a chess game recently with a load of random "achievements" like, "move a pawn two spaces". Really who are these achievements for exactly? People with OCD who need to complete things just because they're there?

Have you experienced any increase (or loss) of sales after integrating the game centre into your app?

Depends. If you want a simple leaderboard, Game Center works great.
You don't have to use the views Apple provide if you don't want it to look generic.

Regarding lame achievements - don't make them if you don't want them :)

Remember that "everyone" has got a game center account, as long as you have an apple id.
Think it's harder to make people create (yet another) account if you decide to host your own service/leaderboard.

Like many things, it depends on your game.

If your game has high scores, it is a relatively easy way to get an online leaderboard. Does your game suit achievements?

That's a good point. I've been a bit blindsighted by the achievements that I forgot about the leader boards. I suppose that would work well for any game.

I'm still not entirely sure though. As I don't think everybody necessarily wants their name to be on a public leaderboard.

I implemented the Google Play leaderboards into one game I made expecting that to boost downloads. It didn't have any effect whatsoever.
