videoplayer unity does not work on android with api vulkan

the scenes with videos using VideoPlayer, work well with opengles 2 and 3, but not with vulkan, what is the problem?

 

Good question - I hope someone from Unity Technologies can answer this one. When can we expect full support for the VideoPlayer?

 

According to documentation "The Vulkan graphics API is not yet supported.". Can someone from Unity team say if this will be soon supported or should we search for something else if we want to use Vulkan?

 

Yeah, this hasn't been supported for way too long. Currently, it looks like another one of those "we implemented half a feature, let's move on to something more shiny" issues. The VideoPlayer component was introduced with Unity 5.6 (on PS4 since 2017.1), Vulkan also came with 5.6. So ... some information of what's holding this back would be really appreciated because currently, you have to revert to OpenGLES3 if you need the VideoPlayer, which kind of sucks.

 

Thanks for responding jashan. I think you are right. It's a bit sad though because VideoPlayer seems like a basic cutscene feature in Unity.

Videos still not working using Vulkan, it plays like 1 fps, any update on this?
Could be at least know if there will be fix by the end of thi year or when it will happen? is on the roadmap? we really need to support video playback and to use VFXgraph we need Vulkan so we don't have an alternative option..
