Videoplayer, adaptive playback with URL

Hi,

I was wondering whether when streaming via a URL whether adaptive playback quality is supported? For example, if your internet connection is poor, would the video player attempt to player a lower resolution version of the video or is it forced to playback at the original video file's resolution?
