Working on some VFX in Unity, using Shuriken and a healthy dose of shader magic (mainly, I'm doing a lot of distortion in the shader). Ended up really abusing Shuriken to get what I wanted. For instance, each channel (R, G, and B) of a particle's color was used as a separate float property in the shader. In order from left to right: Fire Explosion Fuel canister burst? Energy blast Any feedback?
Working more on VFX. This one is significantly less heavy on shader magic. I'm going for a near-instantaneous BANG with this one, rather than the classic "Hollywood" plume of fire you usually see. For me, the quick BANG with debris and lingering smoke really helps sell the feeling of power. The plume of fire to me just looks like "oh, they lit something on fire" - no real feeling of power to it. For instance, in Mythbusters when they blow things up, they have a tendency to just bang without generating big flames There was one episode where they tried to blow up a water heater - it just disappeared with a bang noise, not even a flash or any evidence it ever existed aside from a shower of dust in its place. And yet it felt far more powerful and dangerous than any explosion I've seen in a movie.
Brilliant effects. Something I've been interested in learning for a while, but never had the chance. Definitely consider selling these, they look AAA.
