I'm sure I'm not the only asset store publisher to receive this email:

    "Hello,
I saw your work on unity asset store and I love it.
I think you are a good fit for our upcoming game assets marketplace.
On our marketplace you can create a store, add your assets and sell them using one of the available licenses.
You can make more money and reach a wider audience using our marketplace (we also address non-unity customers).
You do not have to spend time on marketing, we do it for you.
You will have clear and insightful selling reports and analytics.
You may add links to your personal website.
To be a publisher or a customer all you need is a browser.
We offer the possibility to remove the slow approval process and allow you full real time control over item publishing (price, discounts, description, galery).
    Marketplace link: http://vaevictisgame.com/
    Are you interested?
Love to hear back from you and start a conversation, just ask me anything and I will answer as soon as possible."

I'm wondering if anybody knows anything about this marketplace? Has anybody tried it?

I've got the same email. I have no interest in putting my assets on other people's stores though, especially when I've never heard of them. There was an email for unionassets.com asking me to put my stuff on there.

@randomperson42 I got the exact same email. I don't know anything about them but harvesting contact emails from the Unity Asset Store and blind emailing all of their publishers is in pretty poor taste in my opinion so I won't even be giving them a look. My email address is listed on my publisher account for the purpose of conducting business and supporting my customers, not for being solicited :) That's my take on it.

Never got such an e-mail, but having no information about who they are nor proper contact details (I mean, really? -> http://vaevictisgame.com/contact/) doesn't really sound that serious.

I have only a free asset on the store, so unsurprisingly they've not bothered mailing me. Cheapskates XD.

They used to have those sites before the asset store, but now it doesnt make any sense. Even activeden never really got anywhere with unity stuff and they are a huge site.

Even a contact form would look more serious (until they reply from a GMail account). Those sort of e-mails would be fed to SpamCop if I got them.

I asked them on an e-mail.

"We are just beginning. The paperwork for us as a legal company are not ready yet."

So, it can be a bunch of 15 y.o. kids starting a website, for this reason (and all the unprofessional stuff above), I would stay away.

Clearly a shop without any kind of proper contact and imprint is like a huge red warning sign.

But alexa traffic ranking is not much better :) Actually it does not even count mac users and it works by tracking only those people who installed their toolbar. I don't know anyone who ever used this toolbar, do you? Their stats are completely nonsense.

Oh that sucks i had used it as a way of gauging how popular a site was.

It works only if you believe that people who use their toolbar are on average comparable to the people who don't. And if you believe that mobile and mac users are also not different. And when you believe that a page about Mac games will be visited as often from a Mac user as it would be visited from a Windows user etc. etc.

It's as serious as the stats about marketshare of computers.
PCs can be built of parts. How do they count them? A new CPU = a new machine? A new mainboard = new machine? By windows serials? You buy a new windows system for the same machine, how do they count it? What about Linux then? And Windows can be run on a Mac and on virtual machines. I know a lot of people who use a Hackintosh, custom builds or on normal laptops, usually they have windows installed as a 2nd system. How do they count it? etc. etc. - they also use web statistics which is the next stupid idea unless you know the sites they use for tracking are visited by Mac, PC and linux users. Personally I know much more people who use Macs (would say 90%), from my point of view the stats are all nonsense. But others don't know a single Mac user…

Unity stats are in the same category - first thing I do is to turn them off, and I guess I am not the only one. Each time a developer tests an app (which should be pretty often) while Unity stats are active it will send what kind of device this was. Developers itself have a huge influence on the unity hardware stats.

Might be legit or might be a way for some people to get a lot of assets for free or possibly a way to fast track your assets to warez pipelines. Just never know with all of the craziness people do anymore.
