Using Unity's sample projects in your game

Hello community,
Simply put, I'm having a moral issue with using Unity's projects in my game. If I buy an entire project from the store, I feel better about it because I bought it. However, my problem is that I want to use the entire lab scene from the RobotLab in one part of my game, and I keep thinking that it's not right. Now of course I'm going to have credits that gives credit to those who deserve it, but I just don't know. I feel okay with using something like the shanty town props (and giving credit), but an entire scene? Lets discuss.

 

I see nothing wrong with it - that's what the assets are made for, kind of.
Think of those packs as the same as the other packs that you pay for, except Unity has chosen to give them to you for free. It's okay to use them in your game, just don't release a game that basically is the asset pack.

On the other hand if you're just the kind of person that likes to make every little part of your game so you can take credit, there's nothing wrong with that either - I know the feeling.

Can you legally? Sure. But if anybody notices, don't expect it to reflect favorably on your game. If a book on writing had a sample story that was copyright free, what would you think about a book that copied and pasted that for a chapter? Would you want to buy a book that had chapters taken verbatim from a writing tutorial?

 

Yeah no problemo. Do you think people care if bruce willis is in another movie. I know my local diner is always has another video shoot of some kind, it really is crazy how often it happens. Look up D2 and the idea of virtual actors

That's a good explanation, but what if some other chapters were from the author, and the other chapters were bought? Despite that, you make a good point with the "reflect favorably" part. That is what's grinding my gears.

 

Sure, Grendel, Sandman, and Wicked were great stories.

 

Not one of those copies verbatim from another source.
