Using Unity instead of Mono for 2D app?

    Hello!

I am working with Mono in my everyday job, and I also work with Unity in my spare time.

I have to do an app now which is not really a game.
The user interface consists of buttons that the user can click, then something is going on behinde the scenes.

Since I like Unity very much, I was wondering if I should simply build my app in Unity instead of in Mono.
Is there anything that would speak against doing it this way?

The only thing that I can currently think of being perhaps problematic is the loading time and the constant drawing onto the screen with Unity.

I think Mono only draws onto the screen when a redraw is required, and I would tend to think that Unity redraws all the time. Is that true?

And does anybody perhaps have any other interesting point about my approach?

Yes. You can do things like limit the frame rate, but fundamentally it's still happening and still chewing up precious resources like battery power.

Of course, if the things going on "behind the scenes" are animations or whatnot then that's going to be the case either way.
