I'm interested in using unity as a basic media server - playing back audio, video, and real time animation, all sequenced using a timeline, applying 2d transformations and post processing to the result, and sending it out to one or more displays.

To what extent is this currently feasible?

Ive had a brief look and it seems that, using a few plugins, like the 'cinema director' timeline, it should all be possible apart from the video playback. I know you can play video files natively in unity but ive seen no indication these can be accurately scrubbed, and played back with frame accurate sync to a timeline / timecode. Is this correct?
