    Cool, but in editor only?
No chance to have it in standalone executables?

I've tried the free version but it doesn't work very well for recording gameplay, I think it's only suitable for recording cutscenes, these are the problems:

-when the recording panel is active the timescale of the game goes down
-when recording the game slows down to about 10%
-the .mov rendering seems to get stuck in an infinite loop, I waited for over 5 mins for 100frames and still wasn't ready
    -it doesn't record the audio

Hey Cascho01, at the moment it's in editor only, but it's definitely the kind of tool that I could extend to standalone executables, if there was enough demand. I'd be able to put the ability to start and stop on a key press.

    Hello Boji,

Your assumptions are completely correct. uRecord is primarily a tool for recording High Definition video at a completely consistent framerate. It's aimed at helping users output silky smooth (In-Engine) Advertisement and Marketing material. With this in mind, it doesn't make sense to record audio, and it does slow down the recording machine. This is needed to record at a perfect framerate at any resolution on any computer (old, new, desktop, laptop).

You can think about uRecord as a way to capture and show off the visuals of your game with actually being able to display the game in that way. (Crank the graphics to the maximum, resolutions over HD at 120 FPS for instance). uRecord follows the same approach as all modern AAA titles with respect to recording visuals and in-game scenes.

    Regards,
    Terry

    What aspect ratios are supported?
    What video-file-formats are supported?
    What codecs are supported?

    Hello,

Aspect ratio is completely dependant on the resolution you specify.
The video container we currently output to is a *.mov and the codec is libx264

Note however, that you can just dump the raw images, they will be named appropriately, so you could assemble the video yourself if you so required, or had different parameters.

We will also take feature requests, so if you have any, don't hesitate to ask here.

    Regards,
    Terry

Well, saving the rendered frames locally to disk and afterwards generating the movie with eg. Adobe Premiere is trivial, I would expect.
The interesting part for me is the automatic video generation of your package.

I prefer mp4 - would this be possible to implement, maybe as an selectable option to mov?

a Selectable mov option would definitely be possible. We can add this to our next feature release!

Tried the free version. But it lags severely in Unity editor. which actually can't let players to have silky smooth gameplay, though captured movie is smooth. If a standalone version is available out of unity editor, that could be better. Also maybe you could provide a option to disable the video generation, image sequence is enough for adobe premiere /aftereffects users;)
Anyway, the captured images' quality are awesome!

    Hello paraself,

if you untick the option "Create Video" in the uRecord UI and untick the option "Cleanup recorded images" you'll only get the images.

As for the slowdown, this is unfortunately a necessary side effect of capturing directly from the graphics card, the slowdown makes it harder for you to play the game, but allows you to achieve the highest of quality for captured videos.

Sorry that I missed out that option ;)
Looking forward to the integration in standalone.
Inspired by yours, I spent half an hour just made a simple script that captures screenshot every lateupdate() by Application.captureScreenshot, adjust the Time.timescale to have a desired video fps. It works pretty much as yours. But It only captures at the game resolution and generates png sequences. Fairly enough for my own needs...sorry off topic...you probably should make uRecord's workflow easier and more intuitive, this makes 30$ more worthy!
    Cheers!

I bought this asset for a while ago but started to test it recently. It looks really promising for my needs!

One simple questions. Is it so that it doesn't really matter if the frame rate of the game is for example 6-10fps, I can still record smooth video?

I am mainly using Unity for architecture animations (flyover videos), which means that I wouldn't need to worry too much about the frame rate when creating the model/scene. I just need to be able to create smooth video output. Now I am still using Afterburner and Fraps for creating videos, but this means that I have to be careful about the frame rate all the time.

    Hello mk1978,

You are correct, the great thing about uRecord is that it's FrameRate independent recording! Therefore you can render with settings your computer can't actually display and still get beautifully smooth video!

When you start recording with uRecord, you will probably notice a framerate drop in your Unity Playback, but don't worry about this, it will not show in your recorded video and the final video should be silky smooth.

    Regards,
    Terry

Does it support recording from multiple cameras at once? Mainly to get multiple perspectives from the same moment. If so will it work with uCutscene creator?

How does this work with your uSequencer? Have you imported it into the same project and used them both?

    Hey DreamLarp,

You can import both of them into the same project. There should be no conflicts.

    Hi ArtOfSetting,

I tried the free version, but it only works in the editor. Therefore, I would like to purchase urecord which I might think got include sample scenes and scripts that I can use for my project. Before I purchase, I would like to ask a few question:

    - Is the stand alone version with scripts for button press already available ?
    - Can I record my scene by pressing the button on my unity scenes if i use the latest available package in the Asset Store.

    Regards,
    Gabriel
