I upgraded from unity 5.5.1f1 to 2017.3.0f3. After the project imported, this is all I see in the unity editor:

Opening a fresh project works fine.

    How can I fix this?

Do you have any custom shaders? That is the default color when a shader does not compile properly, but agreed, odd that it's filling the entire window.

Lots of custom shader work, killing the shader cache and trying again with a fresh checkout

Nope, screen is still fully magenta. Going through my shader assets and removing any tagged for the editor.

That didn't do it, but doing another fresh checkout, and adding back my shaders one by one seemed to do the trick, I can at least use the editor now
