Upgraded to 5.6 - the whole hierarchy is gone...

Dear all,

I am quite new to Unity and naively decided to jump onto 5.6...

Opening up my recent game in progress - complete hierarchy is gone... (including all specially generated game objects)

As you can imagine - disappointment is high... and energy is low...

But - I am sure there are some clever people in the community who has suggestions on how to best proceed...

Any pointers are highly appreciated...

Are you sure it's opening your scene file? Sometimes after an upgrade it defaults to an empty scene and you have to double click your scene file to open it.

 

Also, this should illustrate the importance of backups and version control. Take note.

At a first glance things appears to be working - but some colors have changed...

Do this starting right now. At a minimum zip up the folder daily and copy it to a different drive and upload it somewhere. You should definitely do this right before an upgrade.

 

Indeed - lessons learned... I was too greedy for new functionality...
