    Sky Master ULTIMATE URP Ethereal volumetric lights solution WIP on Multi Pass VR support, the system has been converted to work on VR, now I am tweaking and making new demos on this new mode.

    I will update as work progresses.

    - Fix issue in auto configurator where "Sample Count 0" was set to one and created artifacts when looking straight up, now defaults to 10.
    - Added time scaling option to the "TimerSKYMASTER" script, to choose how many game hours correspond to one real hour
    - Added years, months and day in month counters in Timer script
    - Added millisecond time resolution to enable much faster day cycles
    - Added all Volumetric cloud types option in the randomized weather script, in addition to the shader based clouds

    Does Skymaster include InfiniCLOUD? I'm a little confused because both seem to have volumetric clouds.

    Hi,

    Yes, InfiniCLOUD is included in all Sky Master ULTIMATE versions. Sky Master is the overall weather framework that has 5+ clouds types to cover all cases, InfiniCLOUD is one of them with shader based clouds that are best for performance but not ideal for fly through case.

    A clarification that did not mention, the InfiniCLOUD for URP-HDRP is available in Sky Master ULTIMATE URP and HDRP betas, available on PM request in Google Drive. The InifiniCLOUD in store is hdrp and contains installer for urp. With Sky Master ULTIMATE you get all 3 pipeline versions, plus the whole weather framework.

    UPDATE on Sky Master ULTIMATE - Ethereal URP Volumetric Lighting

    I have seen an issue where the volume sampling steps are variable depending on the scene depth, which may cause issues as a light volume intersects various scene depths and sky and volume may appear uneven.

    The Step Control X variable in the connectVolumeFog script can now be used to control this effect, zero will disable the new system, values like 0.01 or 0.1 will enable an even step independent of the scene depth, as shown in the 2ond image above.

    The patch for this will come in the next URP version 15 and Ethereal v1.1.8e in the store.

    A new demo will also be added showcasing the effect.

    To use it directly before the update releases, can make the following changes to the volume lights shader

    Change in VolumeFogSRP_FORWARD_URP.shader

    Line 1717-1721, change the if statement to
    "if (zsample <= 1-0.999995 && _stepsControl.x == 0) {"

    Line 1712, add
    if (_stepsControl.x != 0) {//v1.1.8e
    posToCameraA = (_stepsControl.x + 1) * 50 * (wpos - _WorldSpaceCameraPos) / length(posToCameraA); //v1.1.8e
    }

    Then put stepsControl X value to 0 to keep the previous system or to anything else (e.g. 0.01) in the connectVolumeFog script on the Camera to use and tweak the new even rendering method.

    Hi,

    I try to include the volumetric lighting system in my URP game, the Ethereal, and for some reason i get very vibrant colors that not look like the previous project i had or the demos in your images. Any idea on what could be the reason ? thanks

    Hi,

    If it happens globally in all demo scenes, it could be the color space, try to enable Linear color space in the Unity player settings and see if fixes the issue.

    Sky Master ULTIMATE URP - Ethereal Volumetric Lighting system v1.1.8e has been submitted to the Unity Asset Store and will be available in the next Sky Master ULTIMATE URP Beta 14d.


    Ethereal v1.1.8e

    - Added fix for an issue when the dual cameras rendering mode is used where the sun would not update correctly in one of the cameras.
    - Added more forest demos with different settings and local lights showcase
    - Fixed an issue where the fog distance from the camera would not follow the camera in horizontal space, making fog density calculated based on distance from world space zero point.
    - Addressed an issue where the volume sampling steps are variable depending on the scene depth, which may cause issue as a light volume intersects various scene depths and the sky and the volume may appear uneven. The "Step Control" X variable in the connectVolumeFogSRP script can now be used to control this effect, zero will disable the new system, values like 0.01 or 0.1 will enable an even volume sampling step independent of the scene depth, resulting in the volume of light appear even between the various ground distances and sky.

    Try other modes than Metal to see if fix, also make sure to be in Linear color space as first steps.

    Do the other demos work ok ? I post a video with the results i get on my laptop (Dell XPS - Windows 10)



    Also try the prefab use and see if works.

    Hi,

    I did few more tests and seems this is an old issue with some Mac PCs and how depth buffer is grabbed. I have reworked the water shader and system to grab the camera depth externally, so if you want i can send the new version for Mac to see if help with the water issue shown in the photo.

    Hi, yes, the fly through clouds has been ported to all pipelines for some time now, also the HDRP has a few extras like a fog of war mode and working also on more control on vertical formations and a vortex system.
