    Run time planting, saving and loading-replanting of grass, instant mode.

    Run time planting, saving and loading-replanting of grass, gradual mode.

    New InfiniGRASS module for run time save and run time load-recreation of grass, which can be used to load run time planted grass in a previous scene, when revisit it during gameplay, or recreate the whole process and order of grass strokes incrementally for special effects like world being planted gradually after some player actions.

    The re-planting can be performed multiple times and there is many possibilities open for further manipulation of the re-planted grass. The system is included in the v1.9.9.6 release and the extra gradual replanting mode (2ond video) will be included in the submitted and soon to be released v1.9.9.6a version.

    UPDATE - New functionality:

    A new input system comes to InfiniGRASS, the new module converts the input system to the new v1.0.2 Input System of Unity.

    The patch is available to all current users, let me know and i will send it asap.

    The new code handles both the case of old and new system and also when both are combined.

    Thanks for the patch. I have one issue though, the erase function does not work i see a red circle but is not erasing.

    Is there something i miss ?

    I had a look and indeed there is an issue, try using the right shift button instead of the left and let me know if that worked out.

    - Added a delayed per brush stroke planting system for the new save-load grass run time module, this can enable the recreation of the grass planting process in time, than just load the grass whole. Sample video

    Great, i am currently investigating why the ".Shift" directive is enabled only for the right shift in the new input system, could just be a bug though, hopefully can add support for left shift soon too.

    Hello,

    How is HDRP going? Would I be able to use this for a tile-based game, to have certain tile prefabs (1.5x1.5 unit quads) contain blowing grass?

    [Edit -- I already own this apparently, hah! I must have bought it years ago and forgotten. So if HDRP would work for my needs, consider this a request!]

    Currently i don't have demo of the v1.x with newer version core.

    I work on demos for the upcoming InfiniGRASS STUDIO, here is some samples, note those are not in any way optimized for mobile yet, is just the base optimization that make it run on mobile, so expect exponential better performance after optimized. Tap on the screen to plan the grass at run time on the procedural terrain.

    InfiniGRASS STUDIO - Endless forest stress demo - WIP in the latest 1:1 scale demos

    In the new demo the grass is applied to a fixed number of terrains, but the underlying system is made with infinite terrain in mind, so even if terrain is endless will have exact same performance, as uses pooling to recycle and spread same brushes on the maps and can also support planting of new terrains with same rules as the ones shown in the demo, in run time.

    Tested the demo, the performance is unbelievable :), cant wait for the next version. Only i notice trees look to have a pattern, is this adjustable ?

    Sure, the trees can be randomized both within each cluster and in the cluster position, i did not use the cluster position randomizer in the demo, that is why has a pattern in this regard, will post a new demo soon with the full randomization in place.

    Sure, will post the next demo this week hopefully with full randomization control options and some new methods to control what is created on the fly, so can adapt the grass as the player moves.

    Searched this forum but no mention of Oculus Quest in this thread (which is a bit surprising!). Is InfiniGrass suitable for Oculus Quest 2 (and v1 if possible) in URP? I know it's only in beta but would be great to add SOME grass to our game!

    Hi, the system just creates meshes, so they should be ok with any setup, but i have not tested in VR, i had several reports that works great in VR, but with so many setups and VR modes i cant guarantee the working of it.

    My guess is that should work though.

    Having a hard time getting this to work.
    - How do I (simply) change the scale of painted grass? World scale?
    - Why when I paint some grass does it look like it's laying almost flat on the floor. Tried modifying wind zone and strength and "interaction radius" (as in some previous posts).
    - Do I have to disable/enable "Painting" before some settings take effect? It seems a little random.

    Hi,

    The world scale is the first thing to set. This does not scale the grass directly, rather scales the default values of grass scaling when press the grass icons, the actual scale is the scale bounds slider in the basic brush settings.

    About flat, can you assign a wind zone to the system and put wind and turbulence to zero and see if fixes it

    You need to enable the Paint grass button before start painting in editor, the settings will take effect in any case but wont paint grass without the button pressed. Same for paint fences.

    Thanks. Scale bounds slider worked. Windzone cut down some movement however why does ANY grass move if the wind is 0?
    When I paint using the "Daisy" everything still looks flat though.

    Is turbulence also zero ? Also there is a wind offset in the shader itself, can try that one as well, will check also about daisy and wind and get back
