updating unity

    I downloaded unity a few months ago version 4.3.2f
    after not using it for a long time I tried to check update for it and this is what I get

    is it normal?

    is there any other way?
    will there be nothing lost if I reinstall it? like my configuration or others

    No, there's no other way. When the 'check for updates' check does find a new version, it just sends you to the website to download it anyway.

    No, the new Unity will automatically uninstall the old one, if you install them to the same folder.

    Just download unity and run the installer, everything else will be ok.

    At some point over the course of unity 4, the version checker went to pot. I think the last time it told me about an update I was probably two months behind.

    Like everyone is saying, it isn't terribly useful. All it did was send you to download page anyway.

    FWIW, the version checker is deliberately a little bit behind the actual released version of the site; this is just to give the Unity team a little less stress in the event that a released build turns out to be a dud.

    Two months sounds like overkill though...

    thanks guys, I thought updating and downloading a new installer would be the same
    anyway i've downloaded the new installer and it works pefectly

    well mine is about 6 months not updated
