I had 2018.2.7f1 installed locally. The recommendation to update appeared inside Unity Hub was there, clicked it, that process went smoothly. Upon reboot, the local installation was missing, it was completely uninstalled.

    Hi @AFourEyedGeek,
Sorry for the inconvenience. I would like to ask if the installation (2018.2.7f1) was previously located within the Hub's program folder, at Hub update, it would clean its folder to install the new version. It is unlikely for the Hub to uninstall a Unity version unintentionally. If possible, I would like to ask if the folder location no longer exist .
Thanks for bringing issue to our attention,
    Joe

This seems to be a common enough problem that you should disallow using the hub's install folder for Unity installs.
