    Hello,

I was wondering what the best way to do this is. For example, if I were to download one of the free motion cap mecanim packs from the asset store, it of course doesn't match exactly with a model i want to use it with. How would I go about updating this animation to the model I want.

Is there a way for me to apply the downloaded mecanim fbx to my own model like in Blender or something, and then update it in blender and re-export it?

Mecanim is supposed to retarget the animation to fit your model. In reality this isnt always the case. If blender can retarget animation then you should try that. I use motionbuilder to retarget motion files, tweak them and them import them into unity. At the moment both my animations and models work better if they come out of motionbuilder rather than 3dsmax. If you are not familiar with motionbuilder beware it has a very steep learning curve.
